Pure Worship

Last week the topic was "A Life of Worship". The basic premise is that if God is worthy of our adoration, worship and praise at all, then He is most certainly worthy of our adoration, worship and praise all the time. It is not the practice of worship which we seek, but the object of our worship: God. We worship not to fulfill any duty or obligation, but as an honest response to our wonderful and incredible God. As we truly know Him we cannot help but worship. Our natural response to God's wonder and glory (worship) occupies our hearts and minds in all that we do every moment of the day. We literally live "A Life of Worship".

As we live a life of worship, it is natural to set aside time for what I will call "Pure Worship". This is a time you spend by yourself or with others in a simple focus on God and God alone. It is a pure seeking after Him and nothing else. Anything else but God is less. It is a seeking after the best: God.

This can take any form, but the idea is to spend time in worship and adoration of God. It is spending time in His presence. You can think of it as a worship focused quiet time or a worship focused prayer time. The guideline is to dwell solely and completely on God and nothing else. Do not think about yourself, your circumstances or anyone else, not matter how grave their circumstances. Do not pray for anything or anybody else. God is so worthy of our complete devotion and adoration. Spend the time in a worship Psalm or any part of scripture (see ideas below), or simply recount in your own heart and mind how wonderful He is. I only offer the concept as a suggestion for you to deepen your understanding, knowledge and worship of God. You can do this as often as you like whenever you can. You might set aside an entire day worshipping God or maybe 15 minutes. It may be regular or spontaneous. I had a wonderful half hour walk this past Saturday morning with a pure worship focus.

I would encourage you to set aside some time in "pure worship". I first discovered just few weeks ago how this could open my eyes more clearly to the wonder and glory of God. I promise you that as you sincerely do seek after Him, you will have a deeper and more vibrant relationship with our wonderful Lord.

Worship Scriptures

God's word is the place to start for any worship. Let the words of God guide your heart.

There are several pages on this site with sections of bible verses focused on different attributes of God: Creator, Holy, Sovereign, Love, Grace, Mercy, Faithful.

I have also included additional worship focused scripture references below with an excerpt from the passage to give you an idea of the content (and links to the full passage). These are great help in your worship focus.
